We refer either to texts which appear on websites or blogs, whether books, articles, conferences or reports, includiing images (drawings, photographs, graphics, drawings, certain designs), musical or audiovisual content, or computer programs, to name a few examples.
All such content either have all rights reserved, thus they can not be used, or they can not be made available without the express permission of the owners, or they may be used freely if it satisfies certain conditions (recognition of the author, nonprofits uses, uses of the work without modification, etc.) because previously the rights holder has authorized the use through a license or a contract.
Internet users do not always have all the above information in order to know which uses can be made of the works circulating on the Internet; this fact creates uncertainty, facilitates that unlawful acts can be committed and it limits the dissemination, processing and reuse of these contents when possible.
As a solution to prevent this, the computer systems that facilitate the distribution or access to digital content should be able to determine whether the information operated holds any intellectual property rights, and if so, which uses are permitted or prohibited. The semantic field research is aimed at "understanding" data by hardware and software applications, using a philosophy of free application for possible standardization and its future interoperability in anticipation of different services, providing solutions to the challenges arising from the new dimensions of intellectual property and distribution through digital networks.
This innovation helps to solve the problems that the distribution of content over the Internet poses on copyright and the proper use of intellectual property protection. This situation occurs on an environment where the conveniences of reproduction, distribution, conversion or exchange of any information or data not seem to have found a regulation according to the interests of the concerned parties.
